Dirty Diana

ist ein im Jahre 1987 mit dem Album Bad und im April 1988 als Single auf dem Markt erschienener Song des Sängers Michael Jackson. Es war der fünfte und letzte Nummer-eins-Hit vom Album Bad der Billboard Hot 100 Single-Charts. Der Song bietet einen härteren Rock-Sound als etwa in Beat It seines Thriller-Albums. An die Stelle von Eddie van Halen trat nun allerdings Steve Stevens, der zuvor Gitarrist von Billy Idol gewesen war, als Begleitmusiker.

Es wurde seinerzeit darüber spekuliert, ob Michael Jackson mit diesem Stück eine reale Person besungen hat, etwa seine Mentorin Diana Ross. Er selbst erklärte später, er habe darin Erfahrungen mit Groupies verarbeitet.

Als Lady Di 1988 in London die Bad-Tour besuchte, spielte Michael Jackson dieses Lied nicht, weil man ihm nachsagte bzw. die Engländer davon ausgingen, dass er damit eine Anspielung auf Lady Di machte, und er sie nicht beleidigen wollte. Im Interview mit Barbara Walters 1997 gibt Michael Jackson an, Lady Di hätte ihn jedoch gebeten, unbedingt diesen Song zu spielen. Letzten Endes spielte er ihn an besagtem Abend trotzdem nicht, da die Zeit nicht mehr gereicht hätte um die Setlist noch einmal zu verändern.
